    Benchrest handicap

Andy, Everybody running matches experiences the problems you describe. We started running matches in Harrison in 1991 and have learned a lot in 26 years. Incidentally, our matches are where your's came from. Tawas guys came over and shot and said, "We can do that." I helped them with paperwork...

    Tuner story...

I have had similar experience several times with tuners. On rimfires they are absolutely necessary. A few years ago we were arguing on here about tuners... the IBS ingeniously outlawed them as being unsafe. :):)

    Beggs Wind Probe Damper Rod

Matt, I don't know if Gene would recommend this but I occasionally would take mine apart, wipe them clean and spray them with pure silicon... no petroleum products. Be careful with those things.

    Beggs Wind Probe Damper Rod

Matt, Gene is a good guy and will return your call. If he hasn't, there's a reason. Keep trying. Dick

Something else that makes me smile is Lee's three window coupe.

Pretty cool to a new guy.

Have fun. I was a writer for that magazine for over twenty years till it went belly-up in 2012. I like going thru the old magazines and re-reading the articles.

    Feinwerkbau 300S...

The eyes thing is just a fact of life. When we set up the local matches, we took that into consideration. This is an area where people move to when they retire. Lots of older folks who need reading glasses. We allowed the scopes and... no problem.

    Feinwerkbau 300S...

If I sell this the price will have to be very close to $700.00. A tad expensive but, when you get the rifle, you will not be disappointed. I doubt that you will ever find a better one. I will sent a few accessories with it... whatever I can find. I know there is a good Beeman's cleaning rod and...

    My new benchrest rifle...

Me too, Al. There was a time when people actually shot their varmint rifles in BR matches... lots of falling block single shots with Unertls. I've always had a warm spot in my heart for them. Many, many years ago, when I was just out of school, I wandered into a gun shop in Saginaw. The...

    My new benchrest rifle...

Look what I've got. My friend, Jimmy Carpenter, sent me some of his 52 gr. .22 bullets to try in the Ruger. Here they are, freshly moly coated and ready to be loaded.

The sights. I've never used then but the gun was new when I got it... They should work perfectly.

    Feinwerkbau 300S...

Both sides of the 300S. Note that it's French walnut and with better figure than most. This gun is in 98+% condition, better than one could expect for a gun that has been shot a lot. I took these pics in haste. Ignore the other stuff on the table.

    Feinwerkbau 300S...

I agree... there's no way I'm gonna shoot this till it gets serviced. Back in the day the local club bought quite a number of air pistols and rifles and had matches for years. They furnished the guns. We shot 4-position (just like gallery rifle) at 10 meters, scopes were allowed. They always...

    .222 Remington build advice

You're probably right. However, if you shoot a .22 PPC, 100" short, you can easily be competitive with the 6's. That cartridge has won the Super Shoot at least twice with a very, very small percentage of competitors shooting it. (Mike Ratigan & Bill Forrester.) My favorite load for the .22...

    My new benchrest rifle...

Yeah... that's my thinking. Ya gotta ask yourself... we don't use tight chambers and turn the brass jist cause we like to neck turn. However, I've been wrong so many times...
