Is there any real working difference between the spray versions of Balistol and Break Free when it comes to gun cleaning and maintenance? Thanks...

I have it on very good authority that you do NOT want to put teflon in your barrel. Years ago, an experienced benchrest shooter, who built rifles, tried Break-Free in a barrel and it was very detrimental to the level of accuracy that is required for that sport. He told me that it took a lot of work to remove it, including the use of an abrasive cleaner, if memory serves. This goes back perhaps 30 years, but nothing has changed that would invalidate the advice.

It doesn't get gummy with age. I use it in all of my BR guns. I have tried alot of other oils and have not found anything better.

I was gonna say to get the cheapest stuff you can find but realized that y'all were serious about that stuff.

Personally I think the cheapest is the best! KROIL $54 Gallon.

Inquiring mind: Dick, do you store in Kroil?

If you mean do I leave Kroil in the barrel all the time then I would say yes. I use a mixture of 1/3 Kroil and 2/3 Hoppes ,(the basic stuff, not the Ammonia mixture). I use this for all my cleaning and leave it in the barrel at all times , except I run a dry patch through just before shooting. I also use Boretech Eliminator for Copper removal. I never use any ammonia in a barrel, a good friend told me years ago to stay away from Ammonia based cleaners and the advice has served me well.

Thank you, Dick. That's what I was asking.

I do not know if they export but I buy a gallon at a time direct from Kano Labs I am halfway through my 2nd Gallon in 30 years. I see it is $55 from Kano ($85 Midway), I think I paid $32 or $33 for my current gallon.

As I understand, it's your domestic penetrating fluid.

In the past, I've used a local one, Penetrol for purposes like you mentioned, though I used to mix it with Sweet's oil (not solvent).
