Not to change the subject, but why not use a reticle scorer such as used by the IBS and NBRSA in score shooting?

Hi Jackie
we are host club for World F class championships in 2017 and we want target markers and Butt Officers to be able to plug the smaller calibers like .224,to 7mm for a higher value if 30cal plug touches line.
we would use them at this years Eastern Canadian championships as well in Aug at Canadian Nationals in Aug

Since nobody has asked, why is .30 caliber scoring being used? US F-Class uses the "Bullet" Diameter" rule, where the diameter of the bullet (and not a .30 cal plug) determines score. This is probably why finding scoring plugs with a .30 caliber ring is difficult. Have heard no complaints when this system is used in US matches.

Overlays are legal for use in US NRA Highpower rifle for scoring hits for bullet diameter. Creedmoor Sports in Alabama sells them (see http://www.creedmoorsports.com/product/ovrly-r/Pit-Supplies-Flags , under "Rifle Scoring Overlay"), am not sure who else carries them. Note that one overlay carries rings for .22", 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 7 mm, and .30", and at $2.50, is much less expensive than a single plug gauge.

Discussions on the Australian scoring system for Fullbore rifle shooting can wait for another time. (No, this is not a joke - Australia uses a different system for scoring hits on target.)

I asked myself that question a number of times Asa. I answered myself with, "it must have something to do with caliber neutrality".
I don't shoot F-Class and haven't studied it, especially on the international stage.

It's all a mass conspiracy against the 30 cal.

To paraphrase Randy Robinette...."that ain't supposed to work":D

I help score and keep stats at our clubs F Class / Highpower matches. Not sure about any bullet diameter rule as all scoring is best edge.

I can say that if the pit crew were to start messing with scoring reticles and discussing the outcome, you are going to have some very irate shooters who expect very quick pit service.
