Those are not J4 or Sierra Jackets. They are Bartís 6MM Benchrest jackets and I have been working on this for about a year. I am planning on producing most of the popular benchrest jackets (22, 6MM and 30 Cal). Currently .705 22s and 820 6MM are done.

They also shoot as good as they look! Charlie Steinius and Wayne Talbot were on hand for testing of 6MMs through my railgun. Groups averaged around high zeros to flat ones (3 shot groups). The final group after tuning was an .024.

Jacket run out is around .00015 or less!

This is great news for bullet makers who have suffered through endless jacket shortages and price increases.

This is a game changer fellas!

Hi Bart

Great news - thanks for taking the time, money and energy to make this happen. More suppliers of benchrest quality jackets can only be a good thing for the sport.

Can you give any idea on how these jackets "form" or "feel"? Is it more like a J4, or a Sierra, or something else again? How are you placed for overseas orders?

Fergus,

The jackets form/feel much like a Sierra jacket. The bullets have a very smooth feel ejecting from the die. I believe that's because of the exceptional finish on the outside of the jacket. The 820 6MM weighs around 21.9 and to seat a core for my 68bt it took around a 2138 punch.

I plan to make these available to everyone.

Bart - will all go forward orders be formed with these or will you use residual Sierras for awhile? I sure hope it's the former. These look like winners.

Lee,

I never want to turn off the flow of Sierra Jackets. I think its best to have more than one source. Its good for us the bullet makers, its good for the shooters and its good for the sport. I intend to carry Sierras as long as they will sell them to me.

Bart, I just want to say, thank you! I really believe that 30 shooters were, and may still be, in a real mess before seasons end. I'm going to a .22 cal because I didn't know if I'd be able to get 30's at all by season's end, much less at a reasonable price. Well...maybe, if I bought Bergers:p, but that's certainly not a given, IMO.

Yes indeed, I got 3,000 .705 22 caliber jackets soon after announcement.

They look very good, weigh very good, work very good and make a very nice looking bullet. Haven't shot any yet, but bet they shoot very, very well.

I use a set of Blackmon dies set & locked in 3 RCBS Rockchucker presses. Works well for the type swaging I do (1 caliber, 1 shooter, 1 rifle).

Bart,

I'm SURE that the bullet swagers out there will HAPPILY buy your jackets...! Support your SIGNIFICANT investment to
make jackets from scratch...

I must say my 6mm Bullet Dies are VERY hungry for .790 jackets....
Is there a time line for availability or a sign up list for those wanting jackets that are going into production..?

Thanks Bart,
Cale Roby

I used Bart's BT with the new jackets at Shamrock last weekend, shot very good for me. Now if he can just make Bullets to correct my dumb mistakes.

BART AND BILLY won all but one event at River Bend shoot last weekend. Buddy Rose prevented the clean swipe winning the first event after arriving after midnight Friday night. Bart and Billy were shooting the new jackets and LT 32 powder. See River Bend results posted on competition Forum. jim c.
