Every now & then I see guys try barrel weights in hopes of improvement. Why if your gun is in tune would you need one? Just curious.

If your gun is in tune - you don't need them. They are used to help get the barrel in tune.

Thanks Bill. I have heard of guns going in & out of tune. Seems like unless one was at either end of the adjustment scale the tuner it would be have enough adjustment as long as the gun had been in tune previously??

I have had some new barrels change tune after they get broken in. Usually all that is needed is one turn of the tuner. I have had barrels (including my current one) that has shot best with some weight added. I try to use as little weight as necessary. I currently have 1 1/2 oz. added to my standard weight Harrel tuner. If you aren't happy with the tune with the standard tuner, adding weight is worth a try. Once the barrel is broken in, and you have found the true sweet spot, it should stay in tune. Make sure you are using known good ammo to tune cause you can't tune out the flyers from bad ammo.

Thanks Bill. I hope that bad ammo or the wind is my problem. I am seeing fliers & can't seem to solve it. I am new to it all & just have a lot of questions. I do know one thing though. I won't give up.
