I'm going to let Jon Conley do all the posting for todays Denton club match but I'm going to put up some pictures and just say the weather did hold out for the afternoon shoot and it was beautiful. Although attendance was down I believe we had 17 shooters today for the score 100 and for group 100.
The target crew did a great job running back and forth down range and we had a good lunch as well out there. We hope to have more shooters for the 200 next month. Lets make it a big turn out. It was also great to see the guys come down from across the red river to shoot with us.
Anyway here are some pictures from today..:)

It was still a little chilly this morning and windy when we started out. I believe my records show it was all of about 63 this morning and finally warmed up to a nice 80 deg.....
I know you guys are still cold up there. Us Texas folks who have been here awile our blood goes thin... Maybe it's just all the beer. :D:D
Alot of our guys were at the cactus and the economy still is taking a toll on some of us but we will get there

We did have a great day at Denton today. Turnout was a little down due to the Cactus but its quality not quantity. The wind was switchy with gust up to around 20 in the morning. Out of 17 shooters only 4 managed to stay clean with Mike Southard turning in the highest X count with 17.
After the lunch provided the 4 H club the wind died down just a little and the sun brought us up to 80 or so. Glenn Chism was able to hold off Doug Penttinen for the win in group with Jerry Stiller getting the small group (.105). Id like to thank all of those who make the long drive. We have the Shilen crew making a fare drive in, the Oklahoma boys coming down and Kenny coming over from Louisiana.
I had a good time and hope to see you all next month.. Jon

We had a good crowd out at Tomball yesterday, 80 degrees and sunny. I had to figure out a way to use my middle finger for the trigger, but that causes the bolt handle to hit my bad finger, which hurts like heck. So, I have to twist my arm and sort of lay the side of my middle finger on the trigger. Plus, the way I lift the bolt handle usually causes my finger to glance on the scope. So, I have to work around that.

Of course, all of this is gong on while having to do all of the other things that Benchrest demands.

I am sorta glad I never adopted the "run and gun" style of shooting. The only way I could shoot fast right now would be to let someone else do it.

Oh well, you gotta play the hand that the dealer deals. Either that, or fold.:D

I'll play these.........jackie

Thanks to the Conleys and NTRSA gun range on a very pleasant, well organized shoot. The Denton 4-H Gun Club did a very good job scoring, retreiving, and posting results....especially considering it was their first time.

Congratulation to those on TOP!!!

It was a pleasure to meet you as well and to shoot next to you. Yeah the let up off that head wind and slight R to L switch was a Mo-Fo...... All in all it was great to get back to shooting since I have not shot any type of match in over 1 year... You might think my priorities are mixed up !!!
Any way I just look forward to burning up powder and sending some bullets down range this year.

Also look forward to heading up to Luther this month if work will allow. I really think I should be able to get there early Saturday Morning for some practice.
Keep um small !

Doug come on up on Sat morning. Its only a 3 hour drive. Match starts at noon. Practice at 11. Bring Glenn and anybody else that wants to come. You do need to bring your lunch as we don't have a lunch crew like Denton.

Oh Boy Doug,
You are in for a treat. You will get to experience the WINDS OF LUTHER. I have seen HOF shooters gather their stuff and leave before the match was over. More fun that swatting a hornets nest........Don
