My friends:

This week-end is the 2008 ARA Kentucky State...

I've decided not to work with liverwurst at this tournament.....

I'm headed up to Newlands grocery to get some potted meat......and soda crackers.....

Back when I was going to school in North Carolina, I used to live on soda crackers and potted meat.......I didn't have no money for anything else...

I want to bring back, for me, some memories from those years gone by as the 2008 Kentucky State ARA develops.....

Friend Smitty:

KIrk Gaston just left my shop, we fit his new stainless steel barrel today....

Anyway, Smitty, KIrk had never been here.....man, when he walked into the shop, man, you could see his eyes bugg out.....

Kirk said, Bill, I ain't never, in my life, seen anything like this......

Smitty, You've been here....you know what Kirk was going through.....

Kirk would range through the shop, as I fit his new stainless steel barrel, and, he would find one machine and ask, Bill what does this do? Well of course I'd have to stop and expalin it to him...

Smitty, I'd have to explain what CNC meant, and Computer Controlled, and EDM......etc.......etc..

I mean, Smitty, to produce winners, one must have the latest of equipment...which I do, of course...

Anyway, We got Kirk's new barrel fit, and then when he left, he said this, Smitty: He said, "Bill, I ain't never seen anything like this"

And Smitty, I can understand, few, have wittnessed a shop equipped like mine.....

Anyway, Kirk is headed home with his new stainless steel barrel, with his head swimming......

Smitty, next time you see Kirk, do me a favor and explain some of the finer details of the equipment in my shop, to him,....OK?

Now, potted meat and crackers.....(maybe some diet Dr. Pepper.....)

Friend Bill I know what your saying about equipment some say me included dont know how you do it but you do! Sorta like some says a 40x wont win but we both know thats just a urban myth.Bill I would love to see you build a killer gun without a tuner wouldnt it set the br.world upside down for a gun to win the nationals without a tuner. Bill, Kirk, Smitty and Jerry,
I wish I could afford one of those barrels. They ain't no more than any other. But at this moment I cannot afford one. But JLG, this barrel that Bill fitted for Kirk may just be the closest to perfect as you can get. I understand that Bill doesn't even finish lap them. Without a tuner? I don't think it will cut the mustard, but unless your shooting weight classes, who cares? Kirk, I just can't get one now. $!. Bill, if I were you I would get some McDonald's, Arby's or Wendy's soon so you can think about the Nationals. Crimmony, what are you going to do then? I didn't know you were from North Carolina, that explains why you dislike basketball. Smitty, you have to find a way to get in Kirk's head or we all don't have a chance now. I just hope I don't drown in you all's drool.

It takes a confident man to carry on about eating catfish bait.

bon appetit

M Lovan Smith,
You are correct, I misread his post. Heck, in his time period of being a high schooler, and being of his stature (height), he should have been a legend in basketball. But you know, not all of us Hoosiers are destined to be hoops legends. Heck, bill is a rimfire legend. He doesn't know how hard you and Kirk picked on him Saturday about these new barrels, (whisper) I won't tell him that you guys did. Heck I thought there was some sort of argument on serial numbers on those barrels and going to be some fracas and all. I guess I learned my lesson. A hard one at that.......6 of 7 top spots. In calfeeville (not Bordenville) it was a lesson. Not even a finish lap (pun). Should have ended on a yellow.

Kirk calls me catfish. But I can catch catfish as well as any other human being on this planet (my friends would tell you the same). But this game is different. The bait is the problem. It only draws the suckers.

I guess Kirk did stare at all that Calfee equipment in wide-eyed awe. He seems like such a simple man. Before he started shooting and seeing the world, I think he used to go to the end of his driveway everyday and look for hours in both directions just to wonder where the road went. Shooting has certainly opened up new horizons for him.

My friends:

I know I'm going to be called a turncoat, but, when I went up to Newlands grocery yesterday to get my potted meat, to get me through the Kentucky State ARA Saturday, as I passed by the canned meat section, I saw a big display for SPAM.......that did it.....I decided to go with Spam instead of potted meat and soda crackers......

Back when I worked for the City of New Albany, (garbage man, we called ourselves G-MEN) my mommy would fry up some Spam, then put some salad dressing on it, while it was hot, then some lettice and tomato.....by the time lunch came around, man, that sandwich, which sat in my lunch box for 5 hours, was ripe.......but it was killer good....

So when I saw that Spam display, I says, Bill, go for it man! I did.

Now, what I've decided to do is hold off till the ARA Nationals to work with the potted meat and soda crackers....

Friend Beau, are you going to the Kentucky or Tennessee ARA? Man, it's a shame they both are on the same day.....Beau, you done some might good work at Livonia.......after what you've been through lately, it was nice you had such a fine day...

Well, I'm starting to get nervous.....one more day.....I love these big State and National events....

Again, Good luck to everyone......

Oh, now, after 200 years we finally have the right to "keep and bear arms"...man! Can you imagine what the awesome folks who gave everything to get this place called The United States of America started, would think, if they could come back today and see what's going on? My goodness! Well, at least I don't feel so bad about owning a gun now.........
