Dang, I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa to arrive! My FWB300 and Walther LGR were shipped from Cal. today, so I should have them sometime next week. I've got at least 2 other guys excited about shooting AGBR, so we'll be shooting every other Tue. eve. at Salem, starting as soon as we can(sanctioning form is sitting on my desk, just gotta get it filled out and sent).

I'm not sure if I can make Holbrooks next match, but I'll definitely stick around for the AG match next time at Pinnacle Mtn.

Todd,
Just go out and rent The Christmas Story to pass the time away. Be careful, "You'll shoot your eye out"
What pellets are you going to feed them?

I am sending my RWS 54 to Paul Watts to be detuned. Then maybe I can finish a Card in 20 min.

I have the tracking # on my Walther LGR and it will be delivered Wed.

Paul,
I'm not sure what to feed them. I just got off one website that had about 100 different brands and styles of pellets. Please don't tell me this is going to be like trying to find that "magic" lot of Eley for my rimfires!

I actually have the FWB and 2 Walthers coming. I bought the first Walther pretty cheap, then found another nicer one, complete with owners manual, tool, sight inserts and test target. I might have the first one sold already, and it hasn't even been shipped yet.

Do you have to pick the RWS up out of the rest everytime you cock it? I can see where that would eat up some time!

Todd congratulations on making the decision to get involved. I never thought i would say this about an airrifle, but I enjoy myself more than rimfire, and the long haul it's so much cheaper.

The best to you,
Joe

Todd, You will be able to determine the pellets you need in about 30 minutes.
Look around for an assortment package of pellets, Seems like they have them at Arizonia Airguns. There will be about 25 pellets from about 20 different manufactures.

Shoot a 5 shot group with each one, you will know after the 3rd shot whether to continue.

Glad to have you joining in with us, It's quite addictive. I just told some guys yesterday that called that I seldon practice with my rimfires anymore. Just shoot them in matches. I find the air rifle to be much more fun not to mention the bang for the buck.

Hi Todd,

I just got in from a morning, and half the afternoon of shooting up in my bahn. Today was the first day I had much of a chance to do any fiddling with my regulator and feel I saw some definite improvement. Now all I need is to get that new stock so all the rock'n & roll'n will go away and I should be all set.

As for which pellet to buy: I'm too new at this to give advice, but, you know me, when asked I can't keep my mouth shut. I do think you will want to go with a "domed" pellet as opposed to a "wadcutter". And, I don't think you can go wrong with using Crosman Premiers. Now, as to whether you want the Heavies @ 10.5 gr. (which I use and you shot at Pinnacle) or the Lites @ 7.90 gr. will depend on your gun. Oh, excuse me ...your guns. But, since you and Kathy will be dealing with the wind most of the time, I would think the Heavy's might be a better way to go as the Lites are more for indoor and 10M shooting, and not the 25+Y shooting we'll be doing. Either way, at $17.00/1250 you can't go wrong. Then there are the JSB Exacts @ 8.30 gr., or Exact Heavies @ 10.2 gr. which I have heard are very good, and, in fact, (Paul can correct me if I'm wrong) were what Doug Shea used when he set the indoor record last weekend. Oh, and let's not forget about H&N Baracudas @ 10.6. They were the pellets used to set the BR-50 airgun record, and a perfect target was shot in doing so. Any of these are where I'll steer you, but what do I know?

Now, how's this for a deal: if you buy any of the above mentioned pellets in the Heavy's, and decide you, or better said, your gun doesn't like them, I'll buy them from you ....that is, unless you go wild and run out to buy 5 or 10,000 of each.

Welcome aboard, and see you at Pinnacle at the end of the month.

Am I surprised by your joining in, especially so quickly ...not at all!

Let the fun begin!!!!

Ah Todd....didn't take you long did it. Not only 1 airgun, but 2!

I'm still the hold-out, not for lack of looking at the catalogs and wishing Christmas was here. I've just put too much money in getting my 22's in shape.
...and I really think the rotting windows on the west side of the house need to be replaced before next winter.

But who knows, I learned a long time ago to never say never.

Best of luck with the new guns Todd. I'll be talking with you about your choices.

Hey Mike, why don't you hang around after the next PM match. I'll even let you give my gun a try and see what you say then. Seems to have done Todd a world of good. :D :D :D

Todd,
I agree on buying a sample pack. I must have 20 different tins of both .177 and .22. I would shoot a pellet that groups 3/8 inch. Try a similar looking pellet same shape and weight but shoot a 2 inch group!! If you want I can send you 25 pellets of what I have in .177.
The R9 springer was shooting Meisterkugeln
The FWB 603 Match was shooting MeisterKugeln 8.2
My Walther the owner said Match Kugeln but he shot at 10 Meters
My rws 54 shoots H&N Diabole sport better than CP
My Rapid shoots H&N Diabolo Baracuda extra heavy better than Heavy
Both 1st and 2nd were shooting JSB Exact Diabolo heavy
Also most come in 4.5mm 4.51mm 4.52mm
Precision Airguns & Supplies in Michigan sent me most of my 4.51 and 4.52
pellets in JSB and Beeman.

Thanks guys,
I'm going to order a sampler pack tomorrow and hope it gets here before the rifles do on Thur. Paul, I'll take you up on your offer, too. Kevin Kunkle also offered to send me some "test lots", so I should have plenty of pellets to shoot. All I need to do is find the time to do the testing.

I don't think I'll be able to scope the FWB right away, but I've got a Weaver V-24 for the Walther, so I'll be concentrating on that gun first. It'll be a stretch trying to find time to get both guns shooting before the next Pinnacle match, anyway.

Again, thanks for all the advice and encouragement,
Todd
