Hey Guys-
Was thinking of getting a new upper for my DPMS LR 308 and saw an article
on the the 6.5 creedmore :D
Seems like the ballistics are simular to the 6.5 x 47 lapua
I can also get an upper for the 260 remington which seems to have
less velocity.
I really like my 6.5 swede bolt gun which is easy on the shoulder and
very accurate but will probably loose velocity at the longer ranges
of F class..
Thanks
John

(assuming the bbl is 8 or 8.5 twist)

Have you considered rechambering it 6.5-284 or 6.5-06 for more velocity.

I purchased an LR-260 (24" stainless bull barrel) before the 6.5 Creedmoor was offered by DPMS. The Creedmoor is a little shorter and straighter case with a sharper neck allowing a little heavier (longer) bullets to fired from the magazine. I shoot primarily 123gn Lapua Scenars in my LR-260 and they're supersonic to 1400+ yards. Heavier bullets (139 Scenar or 142 Sierras)? from the 6.5 Creedmoor might squeeze a bit less wind deflection. I'm not sure why DPMS didn't chamber for the 6.5x47 Lapua which gives even more room for VLD bullets, but I expect it's because of its higher SAAMI (CIP) pressure rating. along with smaller case capacity. My concerns with the 6.5 Creedmoor in a semi-auto relate to potential feeding problems because of the sharp neck angle. I don't know of specific problems. Time will tell on that.

If I was buying the DPMS LR-() rifle now I'd consider the 6.5 Creedmore, but I'm not going to trade the LR-260 to get one. I'm quite happy with the 260 Rem's performance. As a plus my XP-100 pistol shoots the same ammo supersonic to 1000+ yards,

Huh? Assuming you're using a modern action, you can run the 139gr to 142gr bullets at well over 2900fps in the 6.5x55.

The creedmoor sounds like another marketing gimmick. If the 260 or 6.5 Lapua won't get it, forget it.
