Jim, I have a question in my mind that I would like your feedback on..
The shooter won a 100 yard agg. with a fine .231"...Then shot a 250-17x at 100 to win..
I have a 30BR that I have shot a 250-17, 20x, 20x in the last 3 monthly matches at our club...I have NEVER been able to get the same gun to agg..below .375"+++...my best group ever in competition is a .180"

Why do you think a gun that aggs well doesn't throw down a 250-20+Xs
Every time????

Is it the fact that some shooters shoot score better than groups? Or vice-versa?
Or is it a situation where the groups were shot during the morning conditions (when they were better) and score in the afternoon when wind and mirage caused deterioration??

It has more to do with the shooting style and the day--Charlie had some 250-20 to 250-23x this summer with that rifle late in season--usually with 15 to 18 wipeouts----a gun that shoots .375 and gets 250-20 probably does not have many wipe outs

The groups on Charlie's targets were not centered and were not in same place on each target last week or this week. Both weeks were shot in winter conditions on rickety benches out of windows with winds blowing in.

It comes down to the old "accuracy" verus "precision" thing--some days you can have precision and marginal accuracy and othrr days --the other way around and then sometimes you can get both.
