Need help on choosing a barrel.

I am looking for a good barrel for rebarreling rifles for shooting prarie dogs. I am looking for ideas and opinions on which barrel manufature to go with. I will be doing all the rebarreling myself. I just got started in gunsmithing with no formal traing but have help from an old timer that wants to part with some of his knowledge. I think that i have narrowed my choices to either a shilen or a douglas. I know that there is not much difference in quality of the two barrels but am looking for responses on expeiences with them. Also, cm or ss? I shoot 3000 round a trip divided between 3 guns. So I am woundering about life span difference between the 2 metals/manufatures.

Check the equipment list sometimes from somewhere like Williamsport, PA. Here's a link for the 2007 World Open results in Heavy Gun, check the list and the barrels on it.
