I have a buddy who needs some brass for a gun he bought. Anyone offer necked down 284 brass ready to full size?? The majority of cases are ruined taking virgin 284 brass run through the 25-284 full length die...

Would like to help out my amigo.....any advice??

thanks and Merry CHRISTmas

Paul,
Just buy 6.5x284 brass. You are only taking it from .264 to .257. Only .007.

like Butch suggested....if you take 284 brass down to 25....it is best to have/use/get a form die....which takes it down to aprox...6.5 then the full length die wont have much further to squeezzzz it down...and things shuld be just peachey.....nuthin wrong with the win. brass.....just be shure your chamber is the smaller dim at the .200 line ...or you will loose primer pokets with full steam loads.....Roger

....he doesn't have the form die and the cases are being crushed going from 284 to 25. He really doesn't want to reload any more and was wondering if anyone sold prepped brass. If that's not an option then I'll let him know about the form die.

For my tight necked 6-284's (pre- Lapua) I used to take a skim cut on the 284 case neck to .012, I think. It's been a while.
You can then take 'em right to 6mm with out sinking the necks into the body. Then I did the final cut to dimension.
Not a big deal, unless your making thousands for prairie dogs.

Paul,
Good suggestions, but as I suggested, 6.5x284, and all you do is run them through the sizing die. No forming dies or neck turning.

I have a improved 22-250AI and a 6 x284 . Making brass for the 6 x284 is far easier . Just like the other shooters said buy 6.5x284 Norma or Lupua .

pfIf you are intersted I have 86 rounds of 25-284 brass already sized for sale. My rifle was stolen 13 years ago. And have been packing them around since. Most are once fired, some new with primers in them. Please email me if interested. scottyhunting@hotmail.com
