Tuning a new railgun where to start?

I have a new rail and am getting ready to start playing with it. Do you just do normal load development like a bag gun? I’ve also been told to clamp a piece of wood to the bench so the front of the rail so it doesn’t move. Any advice on where to start would be helpful. Thanks guys.

Yep, start with the same loads as usual if your chamber is the same.
I use the same brass as my bag guns.
Also when you clamp a block to the bench, make sure the base is hitting it square or your gun will want to move.
